Calm - the natural choice for museums
Calm for Museums is a Windows-based collection management system for museums and galleries designed to conform to the SPECTRUM data standard developed by the mda.
Calm manages:
- Object entry, loans in and depositor records
- SPECTRUM compliant multi-media object cataloguing
- Location and movement records
- Internet/intranet access
- Conservation
Calm:
- Supports full SPECTRUM compliance.
- Has a d ynamic, customisable user interface with context sensitive button strip to help work flow operations.
- Uses the Calm “tree view” to enhance visual representation of links between records.
- Allows users to tab seamlessly to related records.
- Allows e xtensive user customisation.
- Links to electronic data sources including audio and video.
- Incorporates i ntelligent date handling; catering for AD and BC dates, including circa, mid/early/late century and date ranges.
- Has Authority control for Names, Places, Events, Subjects, Activities, Concepts and Cultures.
- Provides for both Single and poly-hierarchical subject thesaurus options and optional provision of the UNESCO or UKAT thesaurus.
- Manages digital assets using ImageView.
- Records metadata relating to digital images in the o ptional Images database.
- Allows searching over the Internet or intranet via the o ptional DServe web server module.
- Has a Locations database for locations ad movement control.
