For Archives

Axiell Calm uses recognised international standards including ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), EAD and EAC. The graphical tree browser enables material to be viewed within its hierarchical context. In combination with the sophisticated hit list overview function, this allows collections to be sorted intellectually during cataloguing. The issue functionality allows material to be produced for researchers in the search room, or loaned for longer periods of time, whilst maintaining a clear audit trail. Digital assets are managed through the multimedia/images functionality.

For Museums

Calm is a SPECTRUM compliant collection management system for museums and art galleries. An object’s complete administrative and preservation history can be recorded and viewed through a series of linked functions including condition check, conservation management, current and normal location management through controlled movement history, and full loan audit trail.

Public Access

CalmView is the popular public access module for Calm applications. CalmView uses the latest ASPX/.NET technology and offers a high quality “out of the box” look and feel. With a layered approach to customisation, CalmView allows you to present data over the Internet or local intranet with minimum design or configuration. It is anticipated that customers would only need to make minor changes to the “out of the box” look and feel with simple adjustments to the top configuration layer e.g. applying local stylesheets, basic configuration of search fields, record display, etc, and not have to embark on a full design process.

Calm-API

The Calm-API has been developed to allow web developers or others to communicate with the Calm database if wished. Functionality has recently been extended to enable greater integration between Calm and third party Digital Asset Management Systems.

OAI-PMH

Standards such as OAI-PMH are embedded in the system, and offer the possibility for retrieving, harvesting and integrating data and digital content. An example of this is the cultural heritage database Europeana which is able to harvest data from Calm systems.

CalmLite

For small organisations, community archives, volunteer groups, and others who require professional functionality delivered in a simple and intuitive way, CalmLite offers functionality specifically tailored to meet your requirements.

CalmWeb

CalmWeb is the new browser based client for Calm, giving all the core functionality and flexibility of Calm through an intuitive web interface. No local client installation or configuration required.

Calm offers all the strengths users expect – modern and sophisticated collections management software, supporting the full range of curatorial and archival duties, from reception and cataloguing of material, through to recording interaction with users and researchers via enquiries and loans - but with a more flexible delivery mechanism.
