Many local authorities are responding to the need to deliver a more efficient and effective library service, coupled with the government’s Big Society vision by exploring the creation of a number of Community Libraries.
Community Libraries are as diverse in their models as the communities they service but share a common core that they should provide a recognisable library service to their community supported to some degree by their parent local authority.
