Artemis MI Suite
Artemis is the ultimate tool for public library authorities wanting a superior level of Management Information.
It provides standard PLS and CiPFA reports with minimum effort on the part of library managers and it provides a vital aid to decision making at the strategic and operational levels, by capturing transactions and presenting data in both graphical and tabular formats for the highlighting of important trends.Artemis presents information via separate menus for distinct groups of user, so different managers see the reports of most relevance to them. These menus can be tailored, but generally speaking:
- Senior managers see reports showing Trend Analysis, Reader Development, Social Inclusion, Stock Profiling, Financial information, and CIPFA & PLS Reports
- Branch and Area Managers see Borrowers, Stock items, Reservations, Statistics, Cataloguing, Acquisitions, and Local reports
- System Managers see everything they want to see!
As well as providing standard reports, ArteMIS also allows authorised staff to modify these existing reports and create new reports from scratch.
CIPFA scripts are re-evaluated every year in conjunction with the Management Information Special Interest Group, managed by Axiell customers, to ensure that they continue to meetCIPFA requirements.
PLS reports have been written specifically to help libraries provide statistics for the relevant Public Library Standards. They are refreshed and updated every year to ensure that they reflect current needs to ensure that managers get easy access to reports without having to learn how to use complex report generation tools all reports are written in Microsoft Excel and can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of individual Authorities and branches within Authorities.
Many reports have built-in charts and graphs which can be easily copied into other documents such as MS Word files or desktop publishing applications. The Excel files are protected to ensure that any manipulated reports will be saved to the local PC and will not change the standard view when next accessed.
New stock profiling reports identify working and non-working stock using criteria such as date, collection, home-branch, issue-branch, category, item statistical category, and date stock was added.
New borrower profiling reports show issues by age, gender, ethnicity and postcode area by month and year to help identify usage and non usage of the libraries by a variety of parameters. These can be further extended to analyse borrowing patterns by occupation, language and date of registration.
Many reports also use a special charting facility that generates bar charts instantly, providing a rapid graphical snapshot that quickly identifies whether the area of reporting requires further investigation.
Artemis uses a report scheduler that can run reports when the Authority wants to run them, for example, on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly schedule, or on specific days of the month, or just Monday to Friday. This ensures that managers get their reports at the desired frequency, and the system can extract the data from the Galaxy/OpenGalaxy tables overnight whilst the system is less busy, minimising the impact on system performance during library opening hours.
